Lauren Voelker, LCSW:Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who received her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut and her Bachelor's in Social Work from Eastern Connecticut State University. She enjoys working with children and adolescents. She has experience working in both schools and outpatient mental health facilities with her most current position being for the town of Guilford as the student assistance counselor, dealing mostly with substance use in teens. She has past experience working with kids who have challenging behaviors and helping them have success during the school day.
In therapy, Lauren enjoys incorporating both play and art into her work and utilizes a strength based perspective as well as evidence based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy. Lauren enjoys working with a variety of mental health disorders which include ADHD and other disruptive and impulse disorders, as well as anxiety and depression.
She believes a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to each client’s success and strives to develop this relationship through mutual understanding, respect, empowerment and unbiased empathetic support and guidance.
