Leanda M Zupka, LCSW: Leanda is a lead clinician and co-owner of Affinity Behavioral Health, with 9 years of experience working in the community. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Eastern Connecticut State University, and her Master’s in Social Work from Springfield College. Her specialized training as an MSW gives her the clinical expertise to work across the lifespan with adults, children and their families experiencing a variety of mental health, developmental, and transitional issues. Leanda believes in the importance of collaborating with clients to help empower them to achieve their goals, and is passionate about the power therapy can provide to improve the lives of others.
Her full clinical experience includes working with individuals within a residential setting, crisis intervention and psychiatric assessments, collaboration with other community providers (including psychiatrists, DCF, and other community-based programs), attendance of PPT and 504 Meetings, and parent education. She has additionally completed extensive trainings on the work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and Developmental Disabilities, as well as the benefits of yoga and mindfulness practices with children and adolescents.
Leanda utilizes a variety of clinical perspectives that are tailored to each client’s individual needs. Some of the frameworks that are frequently used include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness Based practice. Leanda is currently working with adults and children in the following areas of practice: anxiety, depression, mood disorders, autism and eating disorders.
